Victor Langhaar joined HD Geosolutions, Inc. in 2013. His expertise includes soil and rock mechanics, mitigation of seismic hazards, seismic retrofits, historic structures, and geotechnical asset management.

Victor began his career with Marino Engineering Associates, Inc., a foremost expert on mine subsidence engineering, while completing his master’s degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1993. He joined the Los Angeles firm of Law/Crandall later that year, where he was engaged in earthquake-related projects following the 1994 Northridge earthquake, including building damage assessments at California State University Northridge and the repair of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Victor spent most of 1995 optimizing pile foundation lengths for the 12.9km Confederation Bridge in Canada, the world’s longest bridge over ice-covered water, spanning the Northumberland Strait and linking Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.

Victor has over 30 years of geotechnical engineering experience. He has led geotechnical evaluations for the seismic rehabilitation of existing buildings, as well as new hospitals, schools, infrastructure, mixed-use developments, museum structures, and film studio buildings. Victor is a registered California Civil Engineer and Geotechnical Engineer.
