Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery | Los Angeles

The project involved the transformation of one city block of century-old industrial buildings into one of the world’s largest contemporary art galleries. Spanning 116,000 square feet, the 13-building complex in downtown’s Arts District originally was home to Globe Grain & Milling Company and later, Pillsbury. In 2018, the project received the Los Angeles Conservancy’s highest preservation honor (Chair’s Award) for preserving the historic character of the rehabilitated and upgraded building complex.

HD Geosolutions, Inc. provided the geotechnical services for the upgrade of the buildings, new foundations, and support of anticipated heavy sculptures. Our staff is highly experienced in the arena of historic buildings. Our principals have consulted on several Arts District developments and other major projects such as the LAX Airport Theme Building seismic upgrade, ROW DTLA, and the seismic rehabilitation of a Spanish mission.
