HD Geosolutions, Inc. provides expertise in geotechnical instrumentation for an array of investigatory and load test applications. Our principals have been key personnel in major instrumentation programs since the beginning of their careers. In the months following the 1994 Northridge earthquake, our principals were in charge of field efforts to test 28 new drilled shafts for the repair of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.—At the time, the 2,000-ton tests, which utilized down-hole Osterberg load cells, were the largest load tests to date in California.
Since then, we have instrumented and performed numerous other load tests, which have resulted in significant foundation cost savings, including $0.5M for a film studio master substation, and $2M for a Los Angeles high-rise. We also routinely employ instrumentation for the performance testing of compacted fills during reclamation of quarries.
Our instrumentation-related services include:
- Foundation performance testing
- Groundwater monitoring / piezometers
- Ground settlement monitoring / extensometers
- Evaluation of foundation / structure movement
- Slope inclinometer
- Vibration monitoring
- Manometer surveys
- Percolation testing
- Floor flatness
- Real-time, remote data acquisition
- Historical data review
